It had been realized that the great success and appeal of the Double Dragon arcade game should be capitalized on in the golden video-gaming era. This was done through a modified port of the game to the NES. But it was unfortunately modified in the wrong ways.
The arcade version included a very popular two-player simultaneous play option. The NES game did not include the simultaneous play, but a two-player mode that required the players take turns. To make up for the loss, they included a one-or-two player one-on-one mode in the game. But this mode can be very frustrating with one player and it's not a very good offering.
