If it wasn't for Super Mario Bros., the video gaming industry may have never been what it is today. Sure, the NES may have been released regardless, and sure there were other games released along with the NES' opening; but Super Mario Bros. was such a blockbuster hit that it totally revived the video gaming industry from the great video game crash of 1984 to greatness again.

Super Mario Bros. was one of the first, if not the first side-scrolling game ever. Of all characters, it featured none other than Mario, a short and fat plumber that rose to greatness out of the arcade smash, Donkey Kong. While Super Mario Bros. may not be the most entertaining game ever, it sure deserves a lot of recognition for its accomplishments.
