Left or Right- Move left or right. Down- Duck or absorb an enemy's power. Up- Fly. Hold A to stay in the air and Left or Right to control the flight. B- Inhale objects, spit out an object, or use a power. A- Jump. Start- Pause. Select- Drop a power. You'll also drop it if you get hit. Thanks to jones5@blazenetme.net for some boss names. Powers Note: Inhaling two enemies with a power at the same time will result in a random power. Beam- Kirby shoots out a beam that arcs downward. Hammer- Does what you expect it would- smashes and bashes! It's also useful for pounding down wooden stakes. Light- Lights up dark rooms. Spark- Kirby ducks down and shoots out sparks from every side. Fire- Kirby spews fire from his mouth. Sword- You can slice and dice enemies in the air, on land, or even underwater! Cutter- It's a thrown blade that will float out a short way and then return to the user. Crash- You can only use this power once at a time, but it will wipe out all the enemies on the screen, even Mini-Bosses! Ball- Hold B to bounce the ball along the ground. Hold it down and keep bouncing and you'll eventually bounce higher and higher. Not very useful. Throw- Similar to Back Drop. You inhale an enemy, then press the direction you want to throw them in. Backdrop- Kirby draws his opponent in, and then slams them in a variety of ways with any of the control pad directions or the A button. Fireball- Kirby turns into a fireball and jets forward at his enemies. Freeze- Similar to Spark, except that icy crystals surround you. Needle- Kirby makes spikes jut out of his back to impale enemies. Hyper- Invincibility! You pick this up from the Meta-knight looking guy, who also unleashes his posse on you in a few levels. Parasol- Allows you to whack enemies and float down slowly. Tornado- Kirby transforms into a tornado and bowls over anything that gets in his way. Wheel- This power is similar to Tornado, except that you stay on the ground instead of floating up. Laser- Kirby fires a laser that bounces off of slopes. UFO- Kirby transforms into a UFO. He can fire a beam when he is not charged. When he is slightly charged, he will fire a laser. When he is fully charged, he will fire a star. Stone- Kirby turns into a rock and drops on anything unfortunate enough to be in the way. Mike- This power can be used three times, and it does heavy damage to any enemies on screen. Hi-Jump- Kirby launches high into the air, plowing through anything in his way. Ice- Kirby spews icy crystals in a manner similar to the Fire power. Sleep- This one is useless, but kind of cute. Kirby falls asleep for a few seconds. Minigames Crane Fever- The easiest bonus. You can either try to pick up the small Kirby doll for a 1-up or the big Kirby doll for a 2-up. Don't try to pick up the big Kirby until you've practiced getting it perfectly between the two "fingers" of the claw. Museum- There will be one or two enemies on display. Eat the one you want and get its power! Egg Eating- This one requires quick reflexes. King Dedede will throw eggs and bombs at you. The objective is to eat as many eggs as possible while not eating any bombs. Press A to open Kirby's mouth (and eat eggs), and let off to make him duck and cover. The more eggs you eat, the more points you will get. Eating a bomb will spell defeat. Quick Draw- Very similar to Samurai Kirby from Kirby Super Star. You have to tap A as soon as you see "GO!" appear on the screen. The first one to shoot is the winner. When you defeat all your opponents or are defeated, you'll gain points and maybe 1-ups. Arena- You'll be pitted against a mini-boss. If you defeat him, you'll get a Maxim Tomato (full health! yay!) and you'll be able to absorb their power by eating them. Star Door- You can return to any level where you have uncovered a star door instantly. This saves you the time of walking through every single level. Secret Switches These are the secret switches required to open secret minigames in some levels. (Note: I'm still searching for these. Check back to this FAQ often.) In stage 3-1, in the door after the two bridges (you should be able to see the exit avobe you), you should see the switch if you go up the ladder. Backtrack and fall down the pit down there (just trust me on this). You'll see a block at the bottom. Suck it up and enter the door you find. In the next room, you'll see another block. Hit that one and fly up to the other door. You'll be at the switch. Hit it to reveal a Battle Arena mini-game. In stage 3-6, after the revolving tower, you'll have to travel upwards. Break the star bricks in on the right-hand wall and enter. Hit the bomb at the top and run to the right really fast, because a wall will appear momentarily to block your access. If you make it to the other door, go through to find the switch, which will reveal an Egg Eating game! In the third section of level 4-1, there will be a big mass of blocks. You'll notice that there will be an extra block. Knock out that block and fly to where it was and press Up. You'll enter a hidden room with a switch. Hit the switch to reveal a Crane Fever game. In stage 4-3, in the section with all the blimps, fly far to the right and go down to the bottom of the board. You should see a door. Go into it and hit the switch to reveal a Museum! In stage 4-6, in the dark area, activate the Light power (eat the little floaty guy with the halo), and backtrack to find a door. Enter it and hit the switch to reveal a Star Door. In stage 5-1, after the "big drop" you'll land on a platform made of star blocks. Break through the blocks to end up at a "Castle" made of star blocks. Break the blocks on the left side (the ones that stand out) to reveal a door. Hit the switch to reveal a Crane Fever mini game. In stage 5-4, in the area with a lot of waterfalls. You should notice a black arc above a waterfall that looks suspiciously like a door. Fly under it and press up to enter. Go through the gap in the right side of the wall and hit the switch to gain access to a Battle Arena mini game. In stage 5-5, in the first area, drop down a pit when you reach higher ground and float to a little platform with a door on it. Enter it and grab the Hi-Jump power. Plow through the blocks, then eat the fire guy and light the cannon fuse. Quickly fly up and get in the cannon. Hit the switch to reveal a Quick Draw mini game. In stage 5-6, there's a switch in the door near the end of the stage. Enter it and destroy the green blocks with a hammer. Plow through the star blocks and enter the door. Hit the switch to reveal a Star Door. In stage 6-1, there is an area with a Maxim Tomato and a 1-up easily in range, but the door is hidden beneath a block. Enter the level with a Rock power and use it to destroy the block and enter. Hit the switch to reveal an Enemy Museum. In stage 6-2, enter the first door in the second area of the stage. Use a Hammer or Rock power to pound down the post and gain access to the door. Hit the switch inside to reveal a Battle Arena. Take either door to escape. In stage 6-3, defeat Bonkers in the second area of the stage and get his hammer. Climb up the ladder and break the crate in the wall. Fall through the gap you create and walk over to the left. Hit the bomb block, walk over where it was, and press up to find a hidden room. Defeat the sword enemy and go into the door he was standing in front of. Get Laser power and go through the door. Go to the left door and enter. Bounce a laser off the ramp at the top of the room. Hop in the cannon and you'll float up to a switch. Hit it to reveal an Egg Eater mini- game. In stage 6-4, near the end of the water area, there is a small gap below the bridge above you. Walk into the gap and press Up to find the switch. Hit it to reveal an Egg Eater game. In stage 6-5, get the Fire Power from the first enemy and set off both bombs to reveal a fuse and a cannon. Light the fuse, then quickly run to the right and hop in the cannon. You should be able to just make it if you avoid the enemies. Hit the switch you end up at to reveal a Quick Draw game. In stage 6-6, go to the second section of the stage. Get UFO power, then return to the first section. Fly down into the pit and go left. Knock out the ice blocks and enter the door. Hit the switch to reveal a Star Door. In stage 7-1, get the Beam power and knock out the fake blue bricks near the end of the stage. When you get to the ones that don't break when you hit them, get the Fireball power and knock them down. Hit the switch to reveal a Crane Fever mini-game (use the slide to escape the blue blocks). In stage 7-6 (the classic Kirby level), get to the last section and get up to the exit, but don't go in. Instead, fly under the moon, then fly up into it to find a secret room. Hit the switch to find the Star Door. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----- Boss Guide A guide to beating all the mini-bosses and stage bosses while unarmed (no power). Poppy Brothers They will either attack alone or in pairs. They like to jump around the room and then throw bombs. Inhale the bombs they spit and spew them right back at them. Four or five hits should defeat them. Frosty This big walrus like to make ice cubes and throw them at you, then charge all the way across the room and repeat. Suck in his ice cubes and nail him with them. Wheelie This guy is pretty easy to beat. Just dodge him when he rolls back and forth, and suck in the little Wheelies he throws at you. Spit them back out after he's done jumping to ensure a hit. Bugzzy This guy is very agressive. Look out for him when he charges, because he'll catch you in a body slam. When he releases smaller bugs, suck them up and spew them back at him. Meta Knight's Posse Meta Knight sends his flunkies after you. They come in four basic types. There's guys with axes, guys with electrified forks, floating guys that swing batons around, and guys with maces. Swallow them up and eat them or spit them at each other. They should be clobbered in no time. Bonkers When he slams the ground with his hammer, a star will fly out. Inhale and spit out the star at him. He'll also throw coconuts at you. Do the same with those. Clock Work This guy likes to charge at you and throw deadly musical notes. Suck in the musical notes and spit them back at him and he'll eventually face the music. Shelatoss This guy is pretty easy. All you have to do is stay away from him. Stay against the wall and jump when he rolls at you. After he touches the wall, run to the opposite wall. Inhale the tiny turtle he throws out and spit it back at him. Flame Mane This dude isn't too tough. Just avoid his attacks and you'll do fine. When he jumps into the air, slide out of the way and inhale the star that appears when he lands. Spit it back at him. When he turns into a fireball and jets at you, jump! Whispy Woods This guy is in almost every Kirby game, and he never gets any tougher. Just eat the apples that drop and spit them back at him. Paint Roller Paint Roller draws objects that attack you. Suck them in and then spit them back at Paint Roller. Watch out when Paint Roller starts moving, he/she might clobber you on the way. Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright They'll try to tag-team you. When Mr. Bright (the moon) comes down, he'll throw a few attacks, and Mr. Shine will start shining rays down. Suck in the stars that result and spit them at Mr. Bright. When Mr. Shine comes down, he'll follow the same basic pattern. Repeat until you defeat both of them. Kracko Grab the Hi-Jump power and keep jumping to stay ahead of him. The easiest way to beat him is to keep using Hi-Jump and clobber him when he passes overhead. You can jump through his lightning without being harmed. If you want to try the hard way, just spit the enemies he generates back at him. Heavy Mole He'll dig through the dirt and occasionally spit torpedoes at you. Suck up the torpedoes and spit them out, while keeping a step ahead of the moving screen. He's not too tough. Meta Knight You have to get Sword power to fight him. Luckily, there's a sword right in front of you. Grab the sword and get ready to fight. Slash him whenever there's an opening, and stay clear the rest of the time. King Dedede King Dedede isn't too tough. Just inhale the stars that appear when he tries to jump on you or whack you with his hammer. Spit them back out at him. Keep in mind that he can take a lot of damage. If you can successfully avoid his attacks, he should be simple to beat. Nightmare This guy is pretty tough. Dodge his shots and let loose a non-stop assault of stars with the Star Rod. Keep in mind that you have a limited amount of time to beat him, so try to keep hacking away and dodging at the same time. Nightmare, Round 2 Well, for a last guy, he could be tougher to beat. Shoot his body when he reveals it from under his cloak. Jump in the air to perform a spinning attack that will cancel out his shots. It does very little damage, though. Use the stars from the rod to hit him. They do much more damage. Six or seven hits from the star should be enough. When you get 100% by completing the game and finding all the secret switches, you'll have the option to play the Extra game. This is the same as the normal game, except now you can only take three hits! When you complete the game, you can either play any of the mini-games or a special boss battle, where you fight all the bosses from the game with a single life. Do you get anything if you win?
