Super Mario Bros. 2
By smb3fanatic

Well, this game is truly confusing. Mostly because America didn't recognize the plot of the new game. Here's the story:

After a highly successful "Super Mario Bros.", Nintendo was on it's way to create a sequel. The sequel was pretty much the same as Super Mario Bros., but with it's little twists and turns. As usual, the game was first released in Japan, and Nintendo later found out that it was too difficult and would not fit the American gamers that well.

The American version was a "Mario-ized" version of "Doki-Doki Panic", a game based on a dream world where it's citizens were held captive by an evil villain.

So Nintendo relased SMB2. It had many differences from SMB and the current Mario games. It had different villains such as the Shyguy instead of the Goomba. The boss was a vegetable-hating toad named "Wart" instead of the Mario-hating, Princess-loving, Turtle/Dinosaur, Bowser.

The plot is that Mario has a dream of a long staircase and then people telling him to save them from the evil villain. Mario then loses his footing and falls into Dream World. When Mario beats Wart, the citizens are saved, each player (you can play as Mario, Luigi, Toad or Princess) is credited with how many levels he (or she) beat, and then Mario dreams of the enemies and he then wakes up from the dream.

An overall challenging game, but the only thing I don't like is how "Mario-y" it is.

Therefore, I give it a 9, or an A.

My Score: 9/10
